Abstract

Cluster: “Shakespeare Readings, Societies, and Forums.” Edited by Matt Kozusko, Christy Desmet, and Robert Sawyer. 

This essay examines the presence of Shakespeare on weblogs — from glancing references to sustained political engagement — to argue that blogging's performative and collaborative nature makes political blogs that evoke Shakespeare, in particular, ideologically comparable to the early modern theater itself.

Erin Presley, University of Georgia

Erin Presley is a Ph.D. student at the University of Georgia, specializing in early modern drama. She is now beginning work on a dissertation about Shakespearean appropriation.
